GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Wednesday is National Tequila Day, and a festival taking place in Grand Rapids soon will offer more than 100 types of tequila, plus tacos from food trucks.
The second annual Grand Rapids Taco and Tequila Fest will take place Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Riverside Park . Festival attendees can sample tequila, listen to live music from The Corzo Effect and eat tacos from six different food trucks.
“There’s tons of shade and … it’s just a real beautiful spot to set up a festival,” Paul Starr, one of the festival organizers, told News 8. “It just helps set a cool vibe for the event.”
Iconic Budweiser Clydesdales coming to Muskegon this weekend He said there will also be a cocktail station, with drinks like a peach margarita, strawberry margarita and a spicy pineapple cilantro margarita.
Tickets to the festival are $45, or $10 for designated drivers. Those who are under 21 can also get in for free this year to eat tacos and listen to the music.
“I have twin 9-year-olds,” Starr explained. “That means something to me, to have the whole family out there and enjoying themselves.”
Organizers are expecting around 1,000 people this year after around 700 to 800 people came last year, Starr said.
Starr said the festival taking place just a few days after National Tequila Day is just a coincidence, but he said tequila is the perfect cool and refreshing summertime spirit.
“Who doesn’t love tacos?” Starr said. “I love tacos, and I think I think tequila is the perfect summertime spirit.”
