Notre Dame class of 2028 begins by breaking records
Last August, about 60 students from the class of 2028 majoring in architecture joined the Notre Dame community. Now just a few days from the start of the semester, the rest of their class is arriving on campus ready to settle into their dorms, prepare for their classes and meet their older architecture counterparts.
University to host Welcome Weekend for over 2,000 new students
In the days leading up to Friday, approximately 2,090 first-year students and 200 transfer students will descend upon campus to begin their Notre Dame experience. The class of 2028, heralded as the most selective cohort to date, will move into residence halls and become introduced to the campus and community around them through Welcome Weekend.
Former Fisher, Pangborn residents prepare to move dorms
As students return to their dorms after summer break, South Quad residents are likely to notice a change in their everyday view. Where Fisher and Pangborn Halls once stood now lies an empty plot of land, as construction crews begin the work of building two new residence halls, one of which will be a women’s dorm named Grojean Hall. The grass in front of Rockne Memorial Gym has also been torn up amidst the construction.

College football starts this weekend and while Notre Dame isn’t getting its season started until next week, it is still close. There are extremely high expectations for the Irish in 2024, and really the only way they live up to them is to make the college football playoff. Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt believes that Notre Dame could very well finish the season undefeated, and thus become the No. 5 seed in the CFP.
Warm weekend, hot next week
A pleasant summer weekend is in the forecast, temperatures rise and humidity surges next week. Highs will rise near 90 this weekend, the humidity goes up but will not be extreme. The hottest days are Monday through Wednesday, when the heat index could be around 95 degrees or higher. The chance of rain is extremely low, an isolated shower could pop Sunday, but the best chance of rain may not comes until next Friday, and even that looks sketchy. Drought. will continue to worsen.
