Something’s in the air… and it’s wildfire smoke
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Have you noticed a bit of a haze over Casper the last few days?. Over the weekend, the Natrona County Fire District responded to a wildland fire that broke out Southwest of Casper, about 18 miles north of Oregon Trail Road from Highway 220. The burn area spanned over 1500 acres, and has now been contained.
SPD: One event under investigation, arrests up, incidents down for WYO Rodeo weekend
Chief Travis Koltiska and Captain Tom Ringley of the Sheridan Police Department appeared on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to talk on policing the events during this past WYO Rodeo weekend. Local Pharmacist Faces Allegations Of Illegally Selling Fish Medication
The Wyoming Board of Pharmacy is accusing a former pharmacist in Casper of illegally selling prescription fish medication. Daniel Kraft's license to distribute prescription drugs expired June 30, 2021. On August 4, 2021 the Board issued an order strictly prohibiting Kraft from "...renewing, reinstating, or obtaining any license from the Wyoming Board of Pharmacy for at least 10 years..."
Big D convenience store planned for Poplar and Wyo Blvd. in Casper
CASPER, Wyo. — Site work is underway at the location of a planned Big D convenience store on the south side of Wyoming Boulevard and South Poplar Street in Casper. Plans submitted to the City of Casper Planning Division show renderings of a modern Big D with its trademark pitched red roof and rock wall exterior siding. At the site — which is just west of the Rocky Mountain Carwash facility — underground fuel tanks can be seen awaiting installation as crews work on leveling and infrastructure. No foundation has been laid as of mid-July.
Trustees OK $394.1M budget for 2024–25 school year; department budgets cut by $2M
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Laramie County School District 1 is working with a budget of nearly $400 million for its upcoming school year. On Monday night, the LCSD1 Board of Trustees approved the district’s proposed budget for the 2024–25 school year. The overall projected funding is locked in at $394.1 million. This grand total is about $51 million higher compared to last year’s budget, according to Jed Cicarelli, LCSD1 chief financial officer. Cicarelli presented budget highlights during Monday’s board meeting.

They were blind, now they can see: Casper man shares vision in photo exhibit after cornea transplant
CASPER, Wyo. — Local Casper resident Bill Fehringer, who received a cornea transplant in 2002 that allowed him to see, is featured in the 2024 Circle of Light Photo Project this month. The exhibit is a partnership between Banner Wyoming Medical Center and the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank.
Wyoming Little League District Tournament Scoreboard: July 15-20, 2024
The Wyoming Little League District No. 2 District Tournament is in Laramie from July 15-20, 2024. There are two divisions with Majors and Minors. The Majors is a seven-team, double-elimination bracket, and the Minors is a six-team, double-elimination bracket. The top two teams in each division will advance to the Wyoming Little League State Tournament in Douglas on July 24-27, 2024. All games are at the Laramie Youth Baseball Complex on Armory Road.
Laramie Police Department Announces Night Out Event
The Laramie Police Department will hold its National Night Out event on August 6 at Kiwanis Park. That's according to a post on the agency's Facebook page. According to the post, the night will begin with the Laramie Soup Kitchen providing dinner for the guests from 5:30 until 7 p.m. After dinner, ice cream will be served along with a showing of the movie Zootpia.

LARAMIE -- No other state has been more of a recruiting hotbed for the University of Wyoming than Colorado. This list will prove that. Numerous UW Hall of Famers, NFL stars and program record holders began their football journey in that square to the south. The Cowboys' top rival, Colorado State, overlooked plenty of these guys. So did CU. Air Force even whiffed a time or two.
