Meramec Valley R-III sets tax rate
The Meramec Valley R-III School District increased its debt service levy at a special tax hearing this week, ahead of a planned $38 million bond issue next year. The new debt service levy the Board of Education approved this week is $0.95 per $100 of assessed valuation, an increase of $0.07 over last year’s rate of $0.88 per $100. The district’s operating levy remains unchanged at just over $3.86 per $100, so the overall tax is slated to come in at $4.81 per $100 of assessed valuation.
Great Godfrey Maze Prepares to Open, Looks for Part-Time Employees
GODFREY - As the Great Godfrey Maze prepares to open, the Godfrey Parks and Recreation department is looking for part-time workers to make the maze a success. The Great Godfrey Maze will run from Sept. 13 through Oct. 26, 2024. In addition to the Peanuts-themed maze and Haunted Maze, families can enjoy hay wagon rides, a bounce pillow, the corn crib and the cow train, among other activities. Chris Logan, Parks and Recreation director, explained that the department needs several employees to work as “Corn Cops” to operate the maze and activities.
