Granite Falls police on the hunt for large Argentine white Tegu mistaken for 10' alligator
GRANITE FALLS, Wash. — Granite Falls Police Department (GFPD) is searching for an Argentine white Tegu that deputies initially thought was a 10-foot-long alligator. “We responded to a complaint last night and were provided with certain information and it was only prudent to post for public safety reasons,” GFPD said.

**UPDATE: As reported Saturday afternoon by KIRO 7, the reptile in question turned out to be an exotic tegu lizard that recently escaped from its owner. Alligators are not native to Washington State and could not establish a population in the region because of its cool climate.
