Seeing hazy skies? It’s dust from the Sahara Desert
Hazy skies spied across parts of Alabama on Thursday afternoon aren’t the usual summertime ozone pollution. It’s actually dust — from Africa’s Sahara Desert. A cloud of dust could be seen on NOAA satellites moving across parts of north and central Alabama on Thursday afternoon (shown above).

Remy Fund: $69K+ awarded to animal nonprofits in Greater Birmingham

Today, The Remy Fund for Pets and Animal Services at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham awarded 11 grants totaling $69,200 to companion animal (dogs, cats, and horses) nonprofit organizations, serving Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Blount, and Walker counties.
