Outbreak of Chickenpox reported in Warden, whooping cough cases reported in Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE – The Grant County Health District (GCHD) is addressing a rise in both chickenpox (varicella) and whooping cough (pertussis) cases within the community. Over the past several months, chickenpox cases have surged, with a notable outbreak at a childcare center in Warden, affecting several children not yet eligible for the chickenpox vaccine. Concurrently, three cases of whooping cough have been confirmed in the Moses Lake area, indicating the presence of the disease in the community.

Expired tabs lead to major drug bust involving Mattawa woman in Ellensburg
ELLENSBURG – A routine traffic stop in Ellensburg led to a significant drug seizure and multiple felony charges late Monday night. At around 11 p.m. on June 24, Corporal Tyler Harris noticed a vehicle displaying 2022 registration tags in the south end of Ellensburg. A closer inspection revealed that the vehicle had not been licensed since 2020, making the 2022 tags fraudulent. Corporal Harris promptly ran the plate through the Department of Licensing, confirming his suspicion, and initiated a traffic stop.
