GRANT COUNTY — The Grant County Health District (GCHD) is addressing a spike in chickenpox and whooping cough cases. The chickenpox outbreak in Warden has affected several unvaccinated children at a childcare center. GCHD urges all eligible residents to get vaccinated. The chickenpox vaccine requires two doses, administered at 1 year and 4 years old.
Moses Lake area horse euthanized due to severe neglect; owner faces animal cruelty charges
MOSES LAKE — A horse, severely neglected and in critical condition, was euthanized this past week as local authorities seek animal cruelty charges against its owner, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's officials say the discovery occurred on June 19 when deputies were alerted by a landlord about a gelding being kept in deplorable conditions on a property located in the 13000 block of Road 10-Northeast, north of Moses Lake.
Felony Charges Likely After This Moses Lake Horse Died of Neglect
The Grant County Sheriff's Office says at least one Class "C" Felony, and possibly others, are pending for the person responsible for this horse's death.
