A Grant County man is being blamed for starting a brushfire near Soap Lake on Sunday. Grant County Fire District No. 7 was dispatched to the blaze, which was touched off during a Red Flag Warning for high winds and dry conditions, at State Route 28 (SR-28) and Road A Northeast.
Felony Charges Likely After This Moses Lake Horse Died of Neglect
The Grant County Sheriff's Office says at least one Class "C" Felony, and possibly others, are pending for the person responsible for this horse's death. Endangered Northern Leopard Frogs Given a new chance at survival in Grant and Adams counties
OTHELLO - Nearly 200 endangered northern leopard frog tadpoles were relocated from Northwest Trek Wildlife Park in Eatonville to the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge in Grant and Adams counties in late May. This relocation marks a crucial phase in a four-year conservation effort aimed at re-establishing a viable population of this species in their natural habitat. Northwest Trek has received northern leopard frog egg masses in the spring from the one remaining wild population at the Potholes Reservoir, collected by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) biologists.
