It's pretty clear now as West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene approaches his final collegiate season that Mountaineers' head coach Neal Brown knows how to recruit playmakers at the quarterback position. Greene's backup Nicco Marchiol, who was also handpicked by Brown out of high school, has even shown flashes of greatness as he relieved an injured Greene last season to help WVU secure a Backyard Brawl victory against rival Pitt, as well as a win over Texas Tech the following week.

Scattered showers and storms return on Friday; rain lasts through Monday
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Thursday was hotter than earlier this week, reaching 90 degrees in some lowland areas. This is due to the approaching low pressure system from the west driving an increase in southerly flow. This low pressure system will push rain and storms into our area for Friday and the weekend. Cloud cover will thicken overnight, and by Friday morning, scattered showers will dapple the area. These showers will develop into some thunderstorms by the afternoon and evening, and in isolated cases, could wield strong, potentially damaging wind gusts, along with heavy rain. Activity will weaken overnight, but not fully dissipate. Some sunshine will peek through the rain and clouds Saturday afternoon, but the cold front with that low pressure system will run through NCWV in the evening, bringing the chance for some stronger scattered storms again. Despite the cold front moving east by Sunday, wraparound flow from the center of the low in the Great Lakes will keep scattered showers in the forecast through Monday evening. By the time the system clears Tuesday morning, most of the area will have received at least an inch of rain, but totals could get as high as 2 inches in areas that see spotty heavy rain over the course of the 4-day period. Flooding shouldn’t be much of an issue given NCWV still being under moderate to severe drought conditions. High pressure will take hold again by Tuesday afternoon, bringing a return to sunshine for midweek.
