Denver is the best gay-friendly city in the West

DENVER, CO – The City of Denver is considered to be one of the best city in the West for the LGBTQ+ community. More and more data show that the city is officially gay-friendly city.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau in 2019 on the Coupled Households That Were Same-Sex Couple, Denver has above national percentage of same-sex households compared to the other states.

Denver also has annual PrideFest event during Pride Month in June. The event is considered to be the largest one in the West and made it to the top 10 list in the country. In 2019, there were over 425,000 people attended the PrideFest at the Civic Center Park.

The Pride celebration in Denver is also one of the most family-friendly in the country. The City of Denver has partnered up with Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the Center on Colfax to specifically made Pride event that focus on family fun. This family-friendly event has rainbow-colored bubbles and story time session with drag queens.

Denver’s gay-friendliness do not stop outside the Pride Month. The city has law that legally protects LGBTQ+ residents. The Colorado’s Governor, Jared Polis, is the first openly gay governor to be elected in the United States.

Governor Polis has signed two bills to protect the LGBTQ+ community legally: HB19-1129 and HB19-1039.

HB19-1039 was made to protect Trans residents in Colorado to have easier access to change the gender on birth certificate and give inclusive option for the non-binary residents. The other bill, HB19-1129, will ban conversion therapy for the underage residents.

With all of these data, Denver is clearly a good place for the LGBTQ+ individuals, whether they want to stay, or simply visiting.
