Avon Recreation Center Opens 2021 Fall/Winter Seasonal Programming

AVON, CO - School is back in session, and so is the Avon Recreation Center's programming! The Rec Center just updated its 2021 Fall/Winter Activity Guide, which covers fall and winter programs for both children and adults.

Monday through Friday, the recreation center will offer an After-School Enrichment Program at Avon Elementary School for students ages 5 to 11. Students make use of free time to play, complete homework, work on craft projects, and eat snacks. For Homestake Peak School children, pre-registration is necessary, and transportation is provided.

When Eagle County Public Schools are closed, School's Out Camp will provide childcare for visitors and locals from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registration closes at 10:00 a.m the day before the event.

If your children are eager to return to sports, a new program will begin on Monday, September 6th. The Most Valuable Peewees program will teach kids the principles of football, basketball, soccer, and baseball, allowing them to learn the ins and outs of America's most popular sports while also getting some exercise!

The aquatics department has upcoming sessions scheduled for September, November, and December, with a wide array of aquatics programming ranging from youth group swimming instruction to a traveling USA swim team.

On Wednesday, September 1st, registration for September programs will be open. In September and November, the department will also provide adult group swim lessons. During the month of October, the pool area will be closed for renovations, which will last the entire month.

Adults can participate in drop-in sports at Avon Elementary School beginning November 1st – pickleball on Mondays, volleyball on Tuesdays, soccer on Wednesdays, and basketball on Thursdays — starting at 6:00 p.m. The fee per night is $5.
