Black River Falls Woman Found Competent to Stand Trial in Homicide Case
(WEAU Staff, WEAU) A woman is found competent to proceed in a homicide case that started as a missing person investigation, according to WEAU staff. According to online court records, during a competency hearing on July 2, 2024, 50-year-old Star Myers of Black River Falls was found competent to proceed. Court records also show a court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3, 2024.

Meet the Hayward ‘bog pushers’
Early this summer, a 200-ton peat bog sprouting mature, 40-foot Tamarack pine trees was blocking a waterway in the Lake Chippewa Flowage in northern Wisconsin. The bog — inaccurately known as an island — was lodged near a bridge, effectively splitting the 15,300 acre lake in two. If the bog remains in place, boats can’t cross from one side of the bridge to the other. It had to be moved.
