Milking procedures laid out for dairy cows at State Fair. Officials at the Wisconsin State Fair are taking extra precautions in light of the national outbreak of avian influenza. While the state fair's milkhouse will be operational throughout the fair, exhibitors of lactating cattle have the option of bringing their own milking claws, provided the exhibitor's tubing fits. The staff will sanitize milking units between cows using chlorinated water solution. Portable milking units will not be permitted.

Remains identified of Wisconsin soldier killed in Korean War
(WLUK) -- The remains of a Wisconsin soldier who was reported missing in action nearly 75 years ago during the Korean War have been identified. U.S. Army Cpl. Robert P. Raess, 21, of Dodgeville, was accounted for March 26, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced Tuesday. Scientists used anthropological analysis, mitochondrial DNA analysis and circumstantial evidence to identify Raess's remains.

Seminar to explore Wisconsin site selection process
A seminar hosted by the St. Croix Economic Development Corp. will shed light on how sites are selected for new developments in western Wisconsin. Big Lots announced it would close 149 stores in 28 states earlier this year and citing inflation and competitive difficulties as the cause. “While we made substantial progress on improving our business operations in Q1, we missed our sales goals due largely to a continued pullback in consumer spending by our core customers, particularly in high ticket discretionary items,” President and CEO Bruce Thorn announced in June.
