LPGA's long-running Portland event in danger of folding
PORTLAND, Ore. — The LPGA Tour's 52-year-old Portland Classic, its longest-running non-major, may be held for the final time this week. According to multiple sources, the tournament inaugurated in 1972, but without a title sponsor for two years, was not listed during a presentation of next year's preliminary LPGA schedule at a player meeting ahead of last week’s CPKC Women's Open. City officials begin closing down transitional housing camp in Albany
ALBANY, Ore. – City officials are starting the process of closing down a homeless camp in Albany. Marvins Garden is the city’s designated space for unhoused people to safely sleep and was created as part of House Bill 3115. The site was meant to provide a safe and secure location for those transitioning and receiving services and its residents on Tuesday received a notice that they have 30 days to vacate their home. Matt Harrington, the City of Albany’s communications officer, said that safety issues are a big driver of the decision to shut the site down.

Tillamook Bay Coast Guard Station
Since 1908, Tillamook Bay and the surrounding waters have been patrolled by personnel from the United States Coast Guard and its predecessor, the Life Saving Service. Today, 65 Coast Guard personnel are stationed at Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay in Garibaldi, operating two lifeboats and a skiff to monitor the waters from Tillamook Head to Cape Kiwanda.
