According to several sources, an independent Western film, “Broken Trail,” is being filmed in Van Buren. “Broken Trail” is directed by Johnny Remo and produced by Skipstone Pictures. Reminiscent of the Wild West, the movie is set on the backdrop of the Arkansas River Valley, with freshly laid dirt coating the streets of Van Buren’s downtown.
Jerry Jones in federal court for case against woman claiming to be his daughter
TEXARKANA — Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones arrived at a federal court in Texarkana Monday morning for a paternity case he has been fighting for the last two years. Jones countersued Alexandra Davis for breach of contract after she publicly claimed he was her father. The settlement contract was with her mother, Cynthia Davis, going back to the late 1990s.The trial will be centered around Jones' counterclaim."[Jones] knows he's the father. Life of Fitz: Travis Geopfert in Fayetteville, Arkansas
Travis Geopfert was named K-State's seventh full-time Director of Track and Field/Cross Country by Director of Athletics Gene Taylor on July 11, 2024. Geopfert was a four-time National Assistant Coach of the Year during two stints at Arkansas across 12 years, with 22 total years of experience also at Tennessee, Northern Iowa and Central Missouri. At Arkansas with the men's team, he was a part of two NCAA Championship teams (2013 indoor and 2023 indoor), 21 top-10 NCAA team finishes and 25 SEC Championships. Geopfert has coached 15 Olympians, including eight who have advanced to this summer's Paris Games. Geopfert was born on August 20, 1978, in Panora, Iowa. He is married to Nicole and they have three children — sons Jones and Jax, and daughter Ellyn.

Landon Jackson set to anchor Arkansas’ defense
FAYETTEVILLE — Defensive end Landon Jackson opted to return to Arkansas for this season instead of entering the 2024 NFL Draft. Jackson, who was Arkansas’ lone player named to the All-SEC teams released Friday. In 2023, Jackson finished with 44 tackles, including 22 solo, 13.5 for loss, 6.5 sacks, one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries. In a 24-21 loss to Alabama, Jackson had 11 tackles, including seven solo, 3.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks.
