    WCSO: Man arrested after taking victim’s dog while armed with pepper projectile gun

    WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – A Gray man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly took a victim’s dog and pointed a pepper projectile gun at them.

    According to a news release from the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), deputies were called to a home in the 100 block of Adams Street shortly before 9 a.m.

    When deputies arrived, they encountered Michael Bawgus, 49, who was immediately detained.

    Bawgus admitted to entering the home with a pepper projectile gun and taking the victim’s dog, the release states.

    According to the WCSO, the victim tried to stop Bawgus, who then pointed the weapon at the victim and threatened to shoot them. The victim believed the gun was a real handgun, the sheriff’s office reports.

    Bawgus was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he made a $30,000 bond after being held for 12 hours.
