DETROIT (FOX 2) - Michigan's bumpy roads aren't just annoying - they're costing drivers thousands of dollars a year. According to a new report from transportation non-profit TRIP, drivers in some areas of the state are paying upwards of $3,000 as a result of road conditions. GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — A 30-year-old Roscommon man is in custody after a wild night, the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office said. On July 20 at 1:43 a.m., central dispatch received a call from a Whitewater Township resident who reported a suspicious vehicle in her driveway. The caller said the driver seemed confused and was asking for directions, deputies said. The resident attempted to assist the driver, but the dark-colored vehicle left, deputies said. However, a short time later it returned. The resident was able to get the plate number, deputies said. While deputies were en route to the Whitewater Township address, central dispatch was able to determine the suspicious vehicle has been reported stolen to the Michigan State Police Houghton Lake Post.
New Michigan law makes it easier for inmates with poor health to be released
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a law Tuesday that would make it easier for people to be released from Michigan prisons if they're in debilitating health and considered to be a minimal risk to the public.The new law replaces a 2019 law that was seen as vague and hard to apply.
