GCS employees hold rally for higher wages
Hundreds of Grayson County Schools (GCS) employees and their supporters took to the streets of Leitchfield on Monday to rally for higher wages. Organized by Grayson County High School Teacher and Grayson County Education Association President Adam Spinks, the rally marched up South Main Street with signs and cow bells to the Leitchfield Public Square courthouse to demand more than the recently approved 3% salary increase for certified staff and minimum increase of $1 per hour for classified staff.

The Leitchfield Fire Department and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded early Tuesday morning to a tractor-trailer off the roadway. Deputy Hunter Miller arrived at the scene at approximately 5:10 a.m. at the 100-mile marker of eastbound Western Kentucky Parkway. He found a semi had crossed the median and left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and entered a grassy, hilly area before coming to rest in a jackknife position. The truck traveled about 65 yards off the roadway.
