Taste of the Town to highlight black owned food vendors for Emancipation Day
HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The fourth annual Taste of the Town is returning to Hopkinsville on Saturday, Aug. 10. From noon until 4 p.m. Food and dessert vendors will line East Fifth Street in downtown Hopkinsville in honor of the Eighth of August Emancipation Day, the day enslaved people in Kentucky got the news that the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed and they were free. Since 2021, local food truck Vansauwa’s Tacos and Vegan Eats has partnered with the Hopkinsville Brewing Co., to bring Taste of the Town, an event highlighting black-owned food and dessert vendors in the area.
Man Charged With Assaulting Law Enforcement
A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting law enforcement while being served an emergency protective order on Azalea Drive Monday morning. Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say 39-year-old Bryan Huddleston was served the emergency protective order which had a vacate order for the home and he shut the door in the deputies face.
Mexican Drug Cartel stopped in West Virginia for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine out of an autobody shop
United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced charges against individuals who were operating a large-scale fentanyl and cocaine trafficking operation out of an autobody shop in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The group is alleged to have imported significant amounts of drugs from Puerto Rico through the U.S. Postal Service as well as from a source connected to the Sinaloa Cartel. Saul Alexi Padilla-Garcia, age 34, of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and seventeen others have been charged after an investigation that included close coordination with federal law enforcement agents in Chicago and Northern California.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Good morning Kentucky! Heavy rain and strong storms rolled through the region overnight but you can expect drier conditions for the morning hours. As the heavy rain exits, we will be left with warm and muggy conditions by lunchtime. There will be isolated-to-scattered showers and storms trying to fire up during the afternoon but these will likely stay south of Lexington. It’s going to heat up this afternoon as well with temperatures climbing into the low 90s in many spots. The heat index will be in the mid-to-upper 90s once you factor in the high humidity.
