    Former Graysville mayor passes away

    GRAYSVILLE — Former Graysville Mayor Jimmy Massengill passed away on Wednesday, March 20.

    Massengill, 63, a lifelong resident of Dayton, passed away at his home.

    Massengill served as mayor of Graysville and was on the city council for 20 plus years. He was a Christian, and a member of the Dayton Community Chapel.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Colleen Massengill; and sister, Jenny Sizemore.

    He is survived by his wife, Dawn Fagan Massengill; his son, Jimmy (Mallory) Massengill III, of Cleveland, Tenn; four sisters, Nita Dodson, Gwen Bryan, Cindy Carden and Darlene Clark; three

    brothers, Wendell Massengill, Tony Shadwick and Buster Shadwick; grandchildren, Fiona, Jimmy, Nevaeh, Dakota Goins, Zhyler Vaughn, Alakhai and Kingsley Revis, Waylon Vaughn; and many nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the Graysville Seventh Day Adventist Church, with Pastor John Appel officiating.

    Visitation will be in the chapel at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m.
