Great Falls Theatre Company will present 'The Music Man'

A non-profit formed in 2021, the Great Falls Theatre Company runs their productions through volunteer activities and fundraising. This year’s summer musical is The Music Man , which will feature a live orchestra. The classic musical tells the story of a traveling con man who sells band instruments and uniforms to townsfolk with the promise of music lessons, but has no plans to follow through on that promise.

President of the Board of the Great Falls Theatre Company Amber Henning Griffith explains choosing The Music Man for their summer musical, “It really is a show that can appeal to all audiences. It really has everything. It's a great show for kids to expose them to musical theater. It has everything from love and betrayal, comedy, music, dancing. It encompasses all of the elements that I think make a truly great musical.”

The theater company describes the show as a show for the community put on by the community, with around 80 people working on and off stage to put on each performance. The Great Falls Theatre Company emphasizes that this is a production put on by the community for the community. Ali Sheets, Secretary for the Board of the Great Falls Theatre Company and Co-director of The Music Man says, “Between the actors on stage, our fabulous orchestra, all the cast and crew, it's wonderful to see everybody just put a lot of time, energy and effort into bringing this story alive.”

The mission of the Great Falls theater company is to offer quality arts opportunities to the community and to place an emphasis on mentoring young artists. “To have a vibrant community, you need to have vibrant arts and so that's what we're trying to establish here in Great Falls is reigniting that long history of great community theater. I'm just excited for the audience to see the talent that is in Great Falls.”
