    12 Finalists named

    Since the Great River Folk Fest Songwriting contest went on line during the pandemic, it has turned the little La Crosse WI fest into a magnet of incredible music, Don't think for a moment that these artist won't venture to our little corner of God's County. Many artist found their way through a huge folk fest in Texas called "Kerrville Folk Fest" or many other connected music sites in social media that were formed to help each each other during the pandemic. One is called "Viral Music - Because Kindness is Contagious" Kindness was at the core of keeping the submissions "FREE" and guess what so many more people are asking and thinking about coming to the beautiful part of Wisconsin we call home.

    During the next several weeks, the 12 finalists will have interviews and reviews from judges like John Smith from Trempealeau WI and Sarah Morris from Minneapolis. Truly the curated selection of 24 songs from 12 artists is one you should listen, follow and maybe even buy their music. One song of from each artist was picked by the preliminary round judges, and the other by the artist themselves. The Playlist for the songs is presented in the GRFF's YouTube page and linked below.

    The musicians are from all parts of the world, here in alphabetical order:

    Randy Lewis Brown - Upper East Side of Texas

    Caludo - (Catie Jo Pidel / Stefan Behler) - Zurich, Switerland

    Chain of Lakes - (Kyle Rasche) - Alto, Michigan

    Chaislyn Jane - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

    Siena Christie - Vancouver, Washington

    Daniel Elixir - Brixey, Missouri

    Scott Martin - Austin, Texas

    Nicky Nieling - Rochester, Minnesota

    Sam Robbins - Nashville, Tennessee

    Stone & Snow (Karen Bridges / Clint Thomsen) - Bloomington-Normal, Illinois

    Rachel Sumner - Boston Massachusets

    Dan Weber - Vancouver, Washington

    We would love to welcome any of these fine musicians to LaCrosse Wi for the 2022 festival, always held the weekend before Labor day down in Riverside Park.
