    Humbird releases new CD

    2021-09-13

The Great River Folk Fest just got done hosting the Twin Cities rising star and Kerrville New Folk 2021 winner, Humbird and just like that she announces her follow up CD “Still Life” release to her incredible “Pharmakon”. The ten cut cd officially releases October 15th, but it is available for Pre-Order with a single release of “May.” Fittingly Siri Undlin the force behind this wonderful experimental folk trio, picked one of her calendar songs for single. She has released August, December, April and January in the past, and seems to be determined to get the calendar covered. May slides its way into your psyche bringing you a peace while the instruments with the help of Pat Keen and Pete Quirsfeld flirt around like spring sprites flying by. Enjoy the peaceful visuals with just a touch of strangeness in video made by Erik and Sarah Elstran:

The CD was recorded diligently recorded over the pandemic in the old house she and friends were renting. Finding solace, silence, and time to write Siri penned a masterpiece pandemic secular hymn, “On The Day We Are Together Again” While her YouTube release is complete with house noises, the studio version has the trio brings the song to a more crescendo that they do in their live performances.

Also on the release is her song for the neighbor’s child Charlotte who was learning to ride bike just as Black Lives Matter protests were peaking last summer, plus Siri’s beautiful tribute song for John Prine “Pink Moon” She mind melds a classic Prine rhythm into the song, it's sweet music to a fan.

Finally, the house on the CD art is big old house where the magic recordings happen, and Still Life is seemingly what the pandemic was to many of us, including Humbird.

Pre-order is another way artists like to cash flow some of the expenses of releasing a CD, and truly it’s your call to walk with them or not. We would recommend you mark your calendar for October 15th to stream or buy the cd because you are in for a treat.
