In 'tick country,' you have pretty much one day, maybe two days, to get your cat to the vet to help him. If you see that he is 'off,' such as sleeping too much, not playful, hiding, doesn't want to eat, and the start of a fever, limp, get your cat to the vet. Time is crucial. You can take a mouth thermometer and place it between his armpit and his body to help read out his temperature. Most cats are between 100.5 and 102° as a norm. Cytox will cause the temperature to go as high as 106.0° Your cat will be dead in about five days if you ignore this. Unfortunately, this disease is all too prevalent in Missouri.
