ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two men have been accused of creating explosives to damage property in Greece.

On June 24, the Greece Police Department said they heard complaints and saw on social media that explosives were being used to blow up items in a neighborhood.

It was alleged that 32-year-old Kurt Lowenguth was using homemade explosives to destroy property and disrupt the peace. Greece PD released a video that appears to show Lowenguth blowing up a cat litter container.

According to the court documents, on June 22, around 8 p.m. on Lida Lane in Greece, Eric Demorest lit an explosive substance and dropped it in the storm sewer drain.

No one was injured but the explosion cracked the concrete basin which police say has to be repaired or replaced.

Lowenguth was arrested Wednesday and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Greece Town Court and was released to pre-trial services.

Demorest was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the first degree.
