The storm dropped piles of hail and inches of rain over Greeley — hail covered the ground like snow and rainwater trapped vehicles in floods. FOX31 crews visited Greeley on Wednesday and observed severe damage to homes and vehicles in the area.
Since the storm, the city said its employees have been working to clean and clear city streets, assess damage and provide support for those impacted.
“The Local Disaster Declaration is a crucial step in our response. It allows the City of Greeley to work interjurisdictionally in our recovery efforts and may activate eligibility for state and federal assistance programs,” the city said.
As of Wednesday, Greeley estimated total damages from the storm amount to over $1.45 million, but the city is still in the early stages of reporting. The city is asking residents and businesses to report damages to the city of Greeley and Weld County so officials can see the extent of the storm’s impacts. Anyone can report damages to Weld County online .
