Swimming advisory extended for part of Lake Anna, other sections added
The swimming advisory issued by the Virginia Department of Health for the North Anna Branch of Lake Anna has been extended, along with the addition of a swimming advisory for the Upper and Middle sections of the Pamunkey Branch of Lake Anna.
Lunenburg-Nottoway Retired Teachers Association Awards Scholarships
VICTORIA —The Lunenburg-Nottoway Retired Teachers Association met on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Victoria Public Library. This year the unit received four student applications indicating an interest in pursuing teaching as a career and each applicant was awarded a LNRTA scholarship! The Notto- way recipient was Madison Redfern graduate of Nottoway High School. She plans to attend Longwood University and major in Special Education. Lunenburg had three recipients of Central High School. Claire Bailey plans to attend Radford University and major in Art Education. Samiyah Cook plans to attend Virginia State University and major in Business Administration, and Finance. Katherine C. Casoni plans to attend Christopher Newport University and major in Choral Music Education. Also, LNRTA contributed to the Southside Virginia Community College Scholarship Foundation Fund. The unit continues to be active and productive in the community.

Vegan Block Party In Richmond To Celebrate The 'Soul In Plant-Based Eating'
Scheduled to return on September 7, Richmond’s Soul Vegan Block Party will warmly welcome all types of foodies for a celebration of plant-based dining. The free vegan food fest aims to challenge the stigma “that there’s no SOUL in plant-based eating.” Its website states that its goal is to make living “a healthy and ethically conscious plant-based lifestyle” more widespread.
