MARINETTE — Students of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College’s Automation and Electro-Mechanical Technology Program recently presented their end of the year capstone project.

The students created an NWTC shield — equipped with lights and motion — to be displayed as a centerpiece for the college’s float in local parades.

Throughout their final semester, students worked together to collaborate, create, build, troubleshoot, and design a display to be enjoyed throughout the campus and in the community. These capstone projects showcase the remarkable achievements possible in the Trades & Engineering Technology field.

Student Josh Berg shared how exciting the program project experience was: “It was fun working with my classmates towards a common goal. It’s super memorable knowing that we took such a passionate interest, learned new things, and created an awesome piece that will be used by my college,” he said.

The Capstone Project really stemmed from a collaborative approach amongst the students. NWTC Instructor, Jesse LaBrosse shared, “It was entirely a group effort with some outstanding students. They created this interactive parade float, from the ground-up. This project will be a great reminder of the capabilities of our students when going through any program at NWTC.”

The NWTC shield will debut this summer at the college’s float in the Logging & Heritage Festival.
