HARRIS, Mich. (WFRV) – The Epson Tour has seen nine different winners to start the 2024 season. On Sunday at the Island Resort Championship, Soo Bin Joo became the tenth.

Joo said she “came out of nowhere” to earn her first professional win and a check for $39,375. Joo beat out the 144-player field in two rounds of golf with an 8-under, after major rain on Saturday forced the tournament from 54 holes to 36.

Fellow Epson Tour rookie Anne Chen led the field with a 9-under for nearly two full days, but a double-bougie on 15, the infamous Island Hole, saw her lead fall away. Chen finished tied for seventh with a 6-under.

Joo nailed back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 to take a lead she wouldn’t lose. Her victory was made even sweeter because her father was her caddy throughout the weekend.
