GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – As head coach Doug Gottlieb rounds out the men’s basketball roster, the Green Bay Phoenix is expecting to add a former NBA player to its coaching staff.

Former fourth-overall NBA draft pick Tyrus Thomas will join Gottlieb’s staff as a part-time undergraduate student manager for the 2024-25 college basketball season.

For the latest on high school sports in northeast Wisconsin:

Thomas spent his first four seasons in the NBA with the Bulls after being traded to Chicago from the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2006 draft. After Thomas’ time in Chicago, he spent seasons with the Charlotte Bobcats and Memphis Grizzlies. In total, Thomas played in parts of nine different NBA seasons from 2006-2015.

In 402 NBA games played, Thomas averaged 7.7 points per game during his time in the Association.
