Packers Grant DuBose in Position to Break Out at Camp

With the No. 256 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers selected wide receiver Grant DuBose. The Charlotte product did not get on the field for a regular season game as a rookie but is someone to keep an eye on this offseason.

Wide receiver is arguably the deepest, most talented positional group the Packers have. Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks are locked in as the top four.

Cracking that group and making the 53-man roster will not be easy. The Packers also like Bo Melton, Malik Heath and Samori Toure.

The path to a roster spot for the regular season is a daunting one. But, Grant DuBose is still someone that Paul Bretl of Packers Wire highlighted as a potential breakout candidate during training camp this year.

“This isn’t me predicting that Grant DuBose is going to take Malik Heath’s spot on the 53-man. As it stands right now, the only way I see DuBose making the final roster is if the Packers keep seven receivers.

However, working primarily with the second and third-team offenses, DuBose was a favorite target of Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt. That year of experience has him looking more polished, which could result in his name popping up often during training camp,” Bretl wrote.

As Bretly noted, he has looked much better this offseason. After a year of being a professional, he has developed nicely; others are just ahead of him in the pecking order in Green Bay.

Training camp and the preseason will be his time to shine. A strong performance could lead to the Packers thinking about expanding the number of wide receivers they keep heading into the season.

While a spot on the Packers’ 53-man roster may not be available, training camp is an open audition for teams around the league. If another franchise has needs at wide receiver, Grant DuBose could be on their radar.
