With the start of the NFL season getting closer, could Green Bay Packers safety, Xavier McKinney, make his first All-Pro team?

In the 2024 offseason, the Green Bay Packers made some notable moves to hopefully help propel the team to new heights this season. With a few big signings, the Packers look better on paper as of now.

While the Josh Jacobs signing got a lot of attention, the signing of safety Xavier McKinney might have been even more important.

McKinney is coming off a great season with the New York Giants, as he established himself as one of the best safeties in the league. Now he will be trying to take the next step and garner some national attention.

Recently, he was named as a player that could make his first All-Pro team by PackersTalk.com. Here’s what they had to say.

Jeff Hafley has a strong track record in developing defensive backs since his days at Ohio State. He transformed Jeff Okudah into a third overall NFL draft pick. Last season, McKinney posted impressive stats: an 87.8 PFF coverage grade, 89.1 tackling grade, allowed a passer rating of 52.1, and played 100% of the Giants’ defensive snaps. Pairing McKinney with elite cornerback Jaire Alexander and Hafley’s coaching prowess in secondary development sets high expectations for McKinney in Green Bay.

The stats for McKinney in both playing against the pass and the run show his ability as a well-balanced player at the position. The secondary of the Packers had some question marks last season, but the addition of McKinney should help improve the unit overall.

If the Packers are able to have an improved secondary led by McKinney and Jaire Alexander, it will go a long way toward helping them go further in the playoffs. For McKinney, being chosen for his first All-Pro team this season is certainly in the cards.
