How much will Doug Gottlieb make at UWGB? Contract details explained:

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – In one of the most surprising hires of the offseason , we now know the first-year head coach Doug Gottlieb’s contract for the Green Bay men’s basketball team.

Gottlieb signed a five-year contract with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay from May 2024 to April 2029, and the details go as follows:

• 2024-25: $215,000
• 2025-26: $250,000
• 2026-27: $270,000
• 2027-28: $290,000
• 2028-29: $305,000

In the five-year contract, Gottlieb will be able to earn incentives based on performance each year. Some of those incentives include:

• Horizon League Regular Season Championship (including ties)
  • $5,000
• Horizon League Tournament Championship Win
  • $10,000
• NCAA Tournament
  • Round of 68 win (if applicable): $5,000
  • 2nd round win (round of 64): $5,000
  • Participation in Sweet 16: $15,000
  • Participation in Elite 8: $50,000
  • Participation in Final 4: $100,000
  • Wins the National Championship: $200,000
• NIT Appearance $2,500
  • Each win in the NIT Tourney: $1,000
  • NIT Championship Win: $10,000
• National Coach of the Year: $10,000
• Horizon League Coach of the Year (solo or shared): $5,000
• Each Power 5 / Big East win: $2,500
• Each net top 60 win (determined at the conclusion of the NCAA tourney): $2,500
• Annual attendance/ticket thresholds, as determined by the Director of Athletics on an annual basis
  • Each sold-out home game @ Resch or Kress Center: $7,500
  • At least 2,500 season average of paid tickets: $5,000
• 20 win season: $10,000
• Incentive compensation for achieving academic performance goals
  • Greater than or equal to 985 for a year APR score: $5,000
  • Academic year GPA of 3.0 or better: $3,000

In Gottlieb’s contract through the university, the head coach will be provided with a paid family golf club membership at the Oneida Country Club. Gottlieb will also receive ten season tickets for home men’s basketball contests and eight season tickets for both women’s basketball and Volleyball home contests.

In a scenario where Gottlieb accepts another coaching position with a Division 1 NCAA institution or a position with a broadcasting employer that would prohibit him from continuing his head coaching duties at UW-Green Bay, the head coach will have to pay the university.
