Former NFL Star Reveals Bold Prediction For Packers’ Jordan Love

    By Robert Marvi,

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are the one NFL team everyone is in love with right now in terms of their immediate potential.

They’re coming off an unexpectedly successful 2023 season in which they won six of their last eight games to claim a playoff spot and upset the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round.

Love led the charge by putting up outstanding numbers in November, December and January after a shaky start to the season. The quarterback finished the regular season second in passing touchdowns, and the sky seems to be the limit for him right now.

Love is heading into the final year of his contract, and all signs point to Green Bay giving him a lucrative extension.

In fact, on “The Carton Show,” former Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Plaxico Burress predicted the team will give Love a record extension.

The new market may have determined Jordan Love’s deal

Burress’ reasoning is partly based on the fact that Love, in the minds of most, is a better quarterback than the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence just secured a humongous bag worth $275 million over five years, and it will make him the highest-paid player in the league in terms of annual salary along with Cincinnati Bengals star QB Joe Burrow.

Love shined brightly in the Packers’ playoff win over the Cowboys by completing 16 of 21 passes for 272 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions while avoiding any sacks. It’s too early to say with absolute metaphysical certitude that he will consistently be an elite NFL QB, but that is the trajectory he is on right now.

It is quite a turnaround from early 2023, when he took over the starting job from the departed Aaron Rodgers, and many doubted whether he was worthy of being Rodgers’ heir apparent. But now, the Packers look to have a smooth transition from one franchise signal-caller to another, just as they did in 2008 when Brett Favre left and Rodgers, then 24 years of age, took over.

The problem for the Packers is they have other young studs to pay, including wide receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. In addition, running back AJ Dillon is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of this upcoming season.

One could make the argument that Jordan Love deserves to become the highest-paid player in the NFL, at least until some other quarterback, such as Dak Prescott, Tua Tagovailoa or Brock Purdy, secures an even bigger bag. But it could make it very hard for Green Bay to keep its very promising core together long enough to see it win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
