Jordan Love does what’s expected from him even without a contract extension in place with the Packers

The Green Bay Packers and Jordan Love might not be close to an extension, as ESPN’s insider Jeremy Fowler reported , but the starting quarterback is reporting to the team’s training camp. Packers’ photographer Evan Siegle published a gallery with pictures from players arriving in Green Bay, and Love was one of them.

Rookies and injured players reported last Wednesday, while the rest of the roster has reported this Sunday. Real practices begin on Monday.

Jordan Love could theoretically “hold in” — report to training camp, but avoid collective activities. However, that doesn’t seem like the most probable scenario, since Love participated even in voluntary offseason activities.

The Packers and the quarterback’s representatives have been talking about a new deal, and the expectation is that talks will advance over the next few days.

Jordan Love is slated to make $11 million in 2024, the last year of his deal. Last offseason, he signed a one-year extension on top of his rookie contract, replacing a declined fifth-year option. Both sides want a deal done soon.

    Preseason plan

Head coach Matt LaFleur hasn’t talked about what his plan for preseason games is. Last year, Love participated in all three preseason games, but it was a completely different set of circumstances — Love had no experience as a starter and needed reps with the young receivers before the regular season.

Green Bay will play at Cleveland Browns on August 10, at Denver Broncos on August 18, and vs the Baltimore Ravens on August 24. If Jordan Love doesn’t play, the other quarterbacks on the roster are Sean Clifford and seventh-round rookie Michael Pratt. The team also worked out veteran Jake Fromm earlier this week.

The Packers open their regular season on September 6, when they face the Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo , the first ever NFL game in Brazil.
