Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will holdout until he and the team reach a new deal, general manager Brian Gutekunst revealed while addressing reporters on Monday (July 22) via the Athletic 's Matt Schneidman .

Gutekunst said he expects an agreement to be done in the coming days, but noted that negotiations for big deals take time.

"I feel we're close," Gutekunst said via Schneidman. "Not unexpected and we'll work to get it done. Hopefully he won't miss too much time."

Love, 25, was selected by the Packers in the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft as the heir to quarterback Aaron Rodgers and took over as the team's starter in 2023 after the franchise granted Rodgers' request to be traded to the New York Jets last offseason.

Love had a breakout season in 2023, throwing for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while leading the Packers to a 9-8 record during the regular season, as well as 466 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions in two playoff games. ESPN 's Jeremy Fowler said the Packers realize that an annual salary of $50 million is the likely floor for a long-term contract.

"The vibes right now are positive," Fowler reported. "But there hasn't been a lot of production as far as getting close to a deal. It's gonna take a little time. When [camp begins], their negotiators and their officials are all together, [and] they're gonna ... try to get a plan together."
