Packers Facing Less Pressure In 2024 Than NFC North Foes

Expectations are on the rise for the Green Bay Packers. After surprising everyone with their performance in 2023, they aren’t going to be catching opponents off guard in 2024.

There is potential for one of the top offensive units in the NFL. Quarterback Jordan Love was incredible in his first season as the starter, already putting himself in discussion as a top player at the position in the NFL.

Surrounded by a deep, talented group of skill position players, the Packers have the pieces to put up points. Defensively, things aren’t as set in stone.

With Jeff Hafley taking over as coordinator, there will be some changes schematically. The Packers will play a 4-3 base under him, not the 3-4 base they have been playing in recent seasons under Joe Barry.

Heading into 2024, you would think there would be some pressure on the Packers. But, writers over at Yardbarker don’t believe that there is much.

Recently, they ranked which teams are under the most pressure by division. In the NFC North, the Packers came in third place as they look to build on their successful 2023 campaign.

“Following a disappointing 8-9 finish in 2022, the Packers returned to the NFC North discussion ahead of schedule following quarterback Jordan Love’s breakout campaign (4,159 yards passing, 32 TD passes in 2023) and a run to the divisional round of the playoffs last season. Now, 2024 will be more pivotal than previously thought for Green Bay as it looks to prove that last season wasn’t a mirage,” Mike Santa Barbara wrote.

The only team under less pressure in the NFC North in Santa Barbara’s opinion is the Minnesota Vikings. In the top spot was the Detroit Lions, followed by the Chicago Bears.

With Super Bowl aspirations, it does make sense that the Lions are first after their run to the NFC Championship Game. After adding Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick, expectations are through the roof for the Bears based on recent season production.

With teams improving, the competition will be fierce in the NFC North in 2024. Whoever comes out on top will have earned it, as the Packers will be one of at least three teams vying for a playoff spot from this division.
