Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will not practice until he signs a new contract. Entering his second year as the starter, when will Love get a new deal?

Will Packers Jordan Love Get A New Contract?

It’s not a matter of when, not if, Love will sign an extension with the Packers. However, Love’s representatives informed the Packers on Saturday night that he won’t practice or play in any preseason games until he gets a new deal.

Love arrived at training camp on time and participated in meetings and other activities. However, Love skipped practice.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst expressed his “optimism” to reporters on Monday regarding the completion of an extension within the next few days.

Love excelled in his first season as the starter, throwing for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season. Love led the Packers to victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round by a score of 48-32.

The following week, the Packers lost a tight game to the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 24-21.

    Jordan Love Potential Extension

Love is set to make $11 million this season, the final year of his contract.

However, Love will inevitably sign a long-term extension, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter predicting the Packers star could become the highest-paid quarterback in the league.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burow are tied for the highest average pay in the league at $55 million per year. Lawrence inked the five-year, $275 million deal with $200 million guarantees earlier this offseason.

If Love sets the record for the highest-paid player in the league, look for his contract to be in the neighborhood of a five-year, $280 million contract.
