NFL Analyst Believes Green Bay Packers Will Make Jordan Love Highest Paid QB

With the Green Bay Packers starting up training camp, all eyes are on the contract situation surrounding Jordan Love. Unlike when most players hold out, by all accounts this doesn’t seem like it is going to be a lengthy drawn-out problem for the Packers.

However, when it comes to contracts, one can never know exactly what a team, agent, or player is thinking. Love is in a bit of a unique situation, as he has only been a starting quarterback in the league for one season.

However, that one season as a starter was very good. Now, everyone is excited to see what Love is going to accomplish in 2024 and beyond, but first, he will need a new contract.

Recently, Dianna Russini of The Athletic spoke about Love’s contract situation. She believes that he is going to reset the market for quarterbacks and the Green Bay Packers will make him the highest-paid in the league. Here’s what she had to say.

“I believe Jordan Love is going to be the highest-paid quarterback in football when this does wrap up,” Russini reported.

“I do believe that he’s going to beat out both Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow, right? So, you figure they are the highest paid quarterbacks right now, making around $55 million a year. It’s all about guaranteeing money, right? That is always going to be the topic of conversations when doing these deals in terms of the importance.

“And so, from what I was told, they are still trying to knock out the final language of this contract. But both sides have been very consistent that they feel good about it, and it should be done not later, but sooner.”

Considering what Love accomplished in 2023 as his first season as a starter, the sky is the limit for him. However, it was just one season as a starter in the NFL, and we have seen plenty of players be one hit wonders.

While that appears unlikely for Love, the Green Bay Packers would be taking a necessary risk based on the small sample size. Furthermore, as a true MVP candidate coming into the season, Love resetting the quarterback market with a massive contract does seem possible.
