Green Bay Packers Cornerback Praised For Work Against Justin Jefferson

Coming into the 2024 season, the Green Bay Packers will be hoping to build on a very successful 2023 campaign. Despite a lot of new faces and young developing players, the Packers did have some very good veterans on the team last season to help guide them to a winning season.

One of the players who has seen a lot of success with the Packers is cornerback Jaire Alexander. While the team’s defense has been up and down in recent years, Alexander has been a very good player on the team for quite some time.

Having a good cornerback in the NFL is critical now with how prevalent the passing game is and Alexander has been the top cornerback for Green Bay for quite a while now.

Recently, Alexander received some praise, as he was ranked as the seventh-best cornerback in the league by ESPN. Here’s what they had to say.

“‘He’s been up and down, but he’s always good against Justin Jefferson,’ an NFC executive said. ‘The guys who match up well with the top guys will always be on the list.’” – Jeremy Fowler, ESPN

Locking up Justin Jefferson is no easy task, as he is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL. Jefferson’s size and speed make him nearly an impossible guard, but Alexander always seems to rise to the occasion against him.

The ability to Alexander to contain Jefferson and keep him at bay is a big reason why he made this list, as sometimes we do see some questionable games for Alexander. However, when focused, Alexander has shown that he can be a shutdown cornerback in the league.

As the Green Bay Packers get ready for the 2024 season, they will need Alexander and their defense to be top notch. If the defense can take a little bit of a step forward, Green Bay could be a title contender.
