GREEN BAY - Larsen Road on Green Bay's west side will close between Lambeau and South Taylor streets, the Department of Public Works announced Thursday.

Here's what you need to know:

    Why is the road closed?

Workers will entirely replace the bridge portion of Larson Road that crosses Beaver Dam Creek.

Will all of Larsen Road be closed?

No, only the portion between Lambeau and South Taylor street will be closed to all traffic going under Interstate 41.

However, residents will still be able to access to the businesses to the east of Lambeau Street, such as Home Depot and Macco's Floor Covering Center. Access to residences west of Taylor Street will be allowed.

During the bridge replacement work, no vehicle/pedestrian traveling along Larsen Road will be able to cross Beaver Dam Creek. Access to businesses east of Lambeau will be allowed but no thru traffic. Access to residences west of Taylor Street will be allowed but no thru traffic.

How long will the road be closed?

The Department of Public Works will close the road at 6 a.m. Monday to begin work. The road will not reopen until early October.

    Are there alternate routes?

Yes, detour signs around Larsen Road will direct incoming traffic to Taylor Street, West Mason Street, and Packerland Drive.
