Packers Defensive Star Earns Massive Recognition for 2024

The most important position in the NFL is quarterback. The Green Bay Packers look to have hit on the position for a third straight time with Jordan Love following in the footsteps of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers before him.

Love was excellent in 2023 and the team is hoping that he can build on that in 2024 and beyond. Expectations are on the rise in Green Bay and he is a major reason why.

Alas, for the Packers to reach those expectations, other players are going to need to perform at a high level. A lot of eyes will be on the team’s defense, which is now being led by Jeff Hafley.

Hafley is taking over as defensive coordinator after three underwhelming seasons with Joe Barry at the helm. One of the players who Hafley will be relying on heavily to return to form in 2024 is star cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Alexander has proven he can play at a high level and is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. His production slipped in 2023, as he dealt with injuries and suspension.

Despite that hiccup, confidence has not wavered in the Louisville product. The team believes that he can get the job done and analysts still think very highly of him.

One of those analysts is Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Schneidman selected Alexander as the Packers’ non-quarterback MVP for the 2024 season.

“Alexander has made two All-Pro second teams and is still only 27 entering his seventh year in the league. After a rocky 2023 campaign that saw him miss nine games to injury and one to suspension after a string of incidents both in the private and public eye, he appears locked in with a new staff around him.

If defensive back specialist and new coordinator Jeff Hafley can get Alexander to stay on the right track, there’s no reason why he can’t make another All-Pro team while leading Green Bay’s defense,” Schneidman wrote.

Alexander looks to be a great fit for Hafley’s scheme, as he knows how to get the most out of his defensive backs. Combined with new safety Xavier McKinney, the Packers have one of the best defensive back duos as their last line of defense in the NFL.
