GREEN BAY — New developments are happening at the Green Bay Plaza on Military Avenue.

Construction started for five new businesses at 1481 W. Mason St. — the old Sears building space. Brian Vanevenhoven, managing director of the Green Bay Plaza, said one of the lots has already been sold to Starbucks and the other four will be available for lease or sale.

"Starbucks should open early next year," he said. "The pads, we'll be done with construction by this fall."

However, Starbucks hasn't made public if this will be a new location or a move from the current location at 615 S. Military Ave., right across the Green Bay Plaza.

Currently, the construction for these new buildings is in phase one, Vanevenhoven said, with water lines installed first, then utilities and access roads to follow.

Leah Weycker, executive director of the Military Avenue business district, welcomed these developments, due to the lack of land in the district to create new businesses.

"This is a great opportunity and I'm excited to see who we can get over here," she said.
