Judge Stops Bus Service Cuts After Lawsuit
A state court judge on Thursday ordered the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to stop the reduction of bus service in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. At a hearing on Thursday afternoon on a lawsuit filed on behalf of bus riders by Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams and the Transportation Workers Union of America (TWU) Local 100, State Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron issued a Temporary Restraining Order to restore recent cuts made to bus services in several boroughs, according to a press release.

Yonkers Man Charged With Distribution Of Protonitazene Synthetic Opioid More Potent Than Fentanyl
Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Frank A. Tarentino III, the Special Agent in Charge of the New York Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”), announced today the unsealing of a Complaint charging MIGUEL DE JESUS REYES MEDINA a/k/a “Azua,” and ERIK ALBERTO LOPEZ VALDEZ with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and distribution of protonitazene, a novel synthetic opioid that is up to three times more potent than fentanyl. REYES MEDINA and LOPEZ VALDEZ were arrested today. LOPEZ VALDEZ will be presented later today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger, and REYES MEDINA will be presented before Judge Lehrburger tomorrow, July 19, 2024.

6-month-old dies after found inside parked car in New Jersey: Police
An infant girl died after after she was found inside a parked car in New Jersey, law enforcement said, during one of the hottest days of the summer. Officers from East Hanover were called to a parking lot near South Ridgedale Avenue and Route 10 around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday after a child was inside a parked car, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. Paramedics at the scene treated the 6-month-old girl found in the car.

A New Plainfield Commercial is on the Way
PLAINFIELD, NJ — At last week's Plainfield City Council meeting, the governing body voted unanimously to approve the production and airing of a new commercial. It will cost $70,000, which will be paid with Urban Enterprise Zone funds, and will hit the television channels as well as digital platforms. Another baby has died in NJ this week after being left in hot car
EAST HANOVER — Another infant has died after being left in a car in New Jersey. Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll said East Hanover Police were called after a 6- month-old girl was noticed inside a vehicle parked in a parking lot on South Ridgedale Avenue at Route 10 in East Hanover around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.
