No Lakewood Farmers Market or Summer Concerts for two weeks
The Lakewood Farmers Market and Summer Nights at the Pavilion Summer Concert are on hiatus the next two weeks. There will be no market or concert July 16 or 23. The pause is so the City of Lakewood can prepare for and recover from SummerFEST, happening July 20 at Fort Steilacoom Park.

Former Kansas pitcher Hunter Cranton and current KU infielder Kodey Shojinaga were picked in the MLB Draft on Monday, becoming the first Jayhawks selected in five years. “I’m really proud of Hunter and Kodey,” KU coach Dan Fitzgerald said in a press release. “Both guys are incredible workers, self starting, and ultra competitive. WA Supreme Court lets high-capacity ammo ban stand for now
Washington’s ban on high-capacity magazines for semi-automatic weapons will stay in effect, at least for now, the Washington Supreme Court ruled on Monday. The Supreme Court decided the ban would remain in effect until it can hear arguments on the case in the state’s appeal of the lower court ruling. That hearing could potentially happen this fall.

Port of Everett delivers expansion pitch, Eagle Scouts honored during July 11 city council meeting
The Mountlake Terrace City Council received a presentation on the Port of Everett expansion from Port Government Affairs Manager Adam LeMieux during its July 11 meeting. Resolution 1220 proposes new boundaries that would include all of Snohomish County, except for the City of Edmonds, Port of Edmonds, Town of Woodway, Point Wells and Esperance. The resulting taxes would be $0.188 per $1,000, which LeMieux said was about $100 per year on a $500,000 property value and is not collected from tribal trust lands.

The Mountlake Terrace City Council cut the ribbon on July 11 for the much-anticipated revamped 66th Avenue West.
