WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. — A Greencastle man has been arrested in relation to a reported chase with law enforcement after an alleged burglary on Monday near Hagerstown.

According to a post on the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office’s social media page, 31-year-old Michael Sensebaugh has been preliminarily charged with residential entry and resisting law enforcement in relation to the alleged burglary.

On Monday, deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary at a home south of Hagerstown. When the deputies arrived, they reportedly saw signs of forced entry into a barn and a garage attached to the home.

The post read that evidence found at the scene, as well as witnesses providing a vehicle description, helped link Sensebaugh to the reported incident. After the description was given, a suspect vehicle was located at a nearby gas station.

Officials said that a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle was attempted. The post read that the driver refused to identify himself or exit the vehicle, and eventually sped off, leading officials on a chase westbound on I-70 toward Henry County.

During the chase, the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Sensebaugh, exited the highway and then re-entered I-70 going eastbound. The chase ended when Sensebaugh stopped his car and was taken into custody.

The quick and decisive actions of our deputies led to the apprehension of a suspect and the recovery of crucial evidence,” Wayne County Sheriff Randy Retter said in the release. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community, and this case is a testament to our dedication.”

Officials said that items potentially related to the burglary incident were seized as evidence after Sensebaugh was taken into custody.
