The Village of Greendale is asking for Greendale residents to help select new playground equipment for Community Center Park.

Greendale posted on its official Facebook page that the Village Board is looking for guidance from residents for the project, which will include installing new, ADA-compliant equipment.

"This important project, highlighted in the Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan, aims to replace outdated equipment with ADA-compliant equipment and all-abilities components," the village said in the post.

The project was recommended in the Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan adopted in 2023, according to the Village of Greendale. Concepts were submitted by three playground suppliers, each offering options at $150,000 and $300,000 budget levels. If a pending grant is approved, the village would be able to choose one of the $300,000 options. If not, it could wait a year to secure additional funding.

Here's what Greendale residents need to know about helping with the park project:

    Where is Community Center Park?

Community Center Park is at 6200 S. 76th St., on the east side of 76th Street just south of Grange Avenue. The park is located alongside the Greendale Community Center.

How do residents help with the design proposals?

Residents can find the Community Center Playground survey online at greendale.org/communitycenter .

    What's on the design survey?

There are six questions on the survey:

    1. Which of the three playground concepts at the $150,000 budget level do you prefer most?
    2. Which of the three playground concepts at the $300,000 budget level do you prefer most?
    3. Which of the six options do you prefer most when considering cost, overall value, and providing more inclusive play equipment?
    4. If the Village does not receive grant funding, would you support spending $300,000 on playground equipment if it means delaying the project by a year to secure additional funding?
    5. About how often do you or someone in your household use park playground equipment during the warmer months?
    6. Please provide any comments you would like to add on this topic.

The survey features graphic design photos of what-could-be layouts for the park. Here's an example of some of the designs in Question 1 of the survey:

There are links underneath each photo to see a full design outline of each proposal. Residents can select their favorite designs and then click submit at the bottom of the page to send the survey to village officials.

What amenities does Community Center Park currently have?

The park currently has: one baseball field, one sand volleyball court, six basketball hoops, two flag football fields, two softball diamonds, three playground pods, six tennis courts (seasonally lighted), picnic tables, a covered picnic shelter, a LifeTrail Fitness system and walking paths.

When is the last day of the survey?

The survey will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.
