Man convicted of attempted murder
GREENE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man will spend 14 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder. Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge Melissa Richardson sentenced 55-year-old Darin Eldon Wright to 168 months in the Arkansas Department of Corrections with 72 months of suspended imposition of sentence.
Man faces aggravated assault charge
A man was being held this week in the Greene County jail, accused of hitting a woman in the back with a television. Christian L. Smith, 21, of Paragould was arrested July 7 on suspicion of aggravated assault on a family or household member after Paragould police went to a home on Lexington Place about a domestic disturbance.
One dead and two injured after vehicle collides with train in Greene County
Arkansas State Police say a Marion woman has been killed and two others suffered injuries when their vehicle collided with a train over the weekend in Greene County. Reports indicate the accident occurred at 6:10 P.M. on July 5th along Highway 63. According to the preliminary fatal crash report, a 2020 Ford was on the access road when it failed to yield the right of way and a train crashed into the front passenger side door.
