Grand Junction Fire and Rescue to Host Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser Saturday
A community volunteer fire department in Greene County will be hosting its annual fundraiser meal, following the 4th of July holiday. The Grand Junction Fire and Rescue Departments will be having their Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday from 7-10am at the Grand Junction Community Center. The menu includes all you can eat pancakes, along with sausage, scrambled eggs, orange juice, milk and coffee for $5 for adults, $3 for children five to 12 and kids under five years old can eat for free.
Food Pantry in Jefferson Continues to See High Volumes of People, Higher Costs for Food
The food pantry in Jefferson continues to see high numbers of people needing help. Greene County Action Resource Center Manager Shirley Haupert tells Raccoon Valley Radio, they still see an average of 35-45 families per week at the food pantry, including serving 45 families last week. Haupert says along with that increase, are constantly seeing new families, and even bigger numbers of families. The clients that use the food pantry, must be registered with Greene County New Opportunities.
Reminder: Free Fireworks Show Tonight at Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson
Tonight’s fireworks show in Jefferson has a different venue. City Administrator Scott Peterson says the free fireworks display is returning to the Greene County Fairgrounds on East Lincoln Way, after Wild Rose Casino and Resort hosted the event for several years. He explains the reason behind the change of location.
2nd Annual Porch Fest is This Sunday
The 2nd Annual Porch Fest returns to Jefferson this Sunday. Jefferson Matters Tower View Team Chair Deb McGinn says the event includes musicians playing on four porches in Jefferson, with the last concert taking place at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County. She talks about how the first year of Porch Fest went in 2023.
